Where you wish to use TaxGift's services, or engage with a charity or school that uses TaxGift's services, then we will collect personal information from you, including your name, contact information and IRD number. We will collect this information:
- Directly from you via our webform;
- Where you have opted into TaxGift using our API integration, we will collect it from the charity or school to which you have donated and opted in; or
- If you are having your identify verified to comply with anti-money laundering legislation, via our AML partner 2Shakes.
Where you are a TaxGift donor, the relevant charity or school will also provide us with the total amount that you have donated to that entity in the relevant tax year.
We collect this personal information in order to be able to offer our services to you and the charities and schools to which you donate. Besides our staff, we share this information with the charity or school to which you donated, third parties that assist us with the services that we provide, and Inland Revenue, all in order be able to receive donation certificates, prepare and file a donation tax credit claim form and to process the tax credit claim on your behalf.
Providing some information is optional. However, if you choose not to provide any of the required personal information that is requested, we are unlikely to be able to process your tax credit on your behalf and increase your donation to your charity or school.
You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong. If you’d like to ask for a copy of your information or to have it corrected, please contact us at admin@taxgift.co.nz
